God? Fred Thompson?
I was watching Fred Thompson’s YouTube announcement, and my 3 1/2 year old daughter comes over to my desk and asks “Is that god?” Egads! I guess he really does have a great media presence. Worth seeing the true conservatives ‘best’ hope for President yourself (even if it isn’t the second coming):
My quick reactions: good life story, great actor, and plain spoken. But Mark Shields on the Newshour got it exactly right: Reagan’s folksy style worked because he offered a new ideology to steer us in a new direction after a failed Democratic presidency. In contrast, Thompson’s reassuring style offers a way to keep us on the same failed course that Bush continues to pursue. No thanks, I say!
